According to reports, around 27 deaths occur annually because of misuse of elevator. There are twenty times safe more elevator than escalator. Elevator hatches are generally bolted shut for safety reason.
Using elevator properly helps ensures a safe and comfortable ride for everyone. Follow these simple instruction to prevent injury:
- Watch your step when entering or exiting an elevator.
- Push the elevator call button once for the direction you want to go in.
- Push and hold the door open button if doors need to be held open, or ask someone to push the button for you.
- Once, on board, quickly press the button for your floor, and move to the back of the car to make room for other passenger.
- Children must always be accompanied by an adult, and their hand should be hold for the duration of the ride
- Pets should kept close on the leash.
- Push the alarm button and as many floor button as possible if you suspect troubled or are attacked so that the elevator will stop quickly at the next floor. Don’t get into an elevator with someone who makes you feel uncomfortable.
- If the elevator should ever stop between floors, do not panic. There is a plenty of air i n elevator.
- If the door do not open when the elevator stops, push the door open button. If the door still do not open, ring the alarm button or use the telephone, wait until technician can assist you.
- Stand clear of the door , keeping clothe and carry-on away from the opening .
