Benefits of Freight and Goods Elevators
In this article, you will learn about the benefits of Freight and Goods elevators. A freight elevator is an elevator designed to carry heavy freights and goods at a quick pace, rather than passengers. Freight Elevators are capable and much larger of carrying heavier loads than a passenger elevator. They have rugged interior finishes to prevent any damage while unloading and loading heavy items.
A freight elevator is an elevator usually designed to carry goods and heavy freights at a quick pace rather than any passenger. These elevators are bulk commodities and needed to transport vertically like factories, shopping centres and storage facilities between the various floors. When we planning freight elevator for a building then careful consideration needs to be given to the type of loading performed. When we planning a freight elevator for a building, careful consideration needs to be given to the type of loading performed.
Freight Elevators are Generally Available in two types:
1. Drummond type without Counterweight
This lift is suited are best suited for low-cost installations and simpler in design. The movement of the lift is usually based on the uncoiling and coiling of a wire rope on a rotating drum. This leads to longer life and lesser rope stress. They require very lesser space and quickly to install. The unique feature of our Drummond elevator is the provision of two ropes that winding separately on a left-hand thread groove and right-hand thread. This also leads to a longer life and lesser rope stress.
This is achieved firstly through the use of 2 or more independent wire ropes that stretched across the main traction sheave. There also is no positive coupling between the machine and lift. This will lead to greater safety and a slip is permitted whenever there is an obstruction to the lift level. In the case of lift overshooting on the top floor, there would be no overload. Regarding these Hydraulic lift manufacturers will doing great work.
2. Traction Type with a Counterweight
Traction based lift offering greater safety to the user and much better machine wise. This is achieved firstly through the use of 2 or 3 more independent wire ropes across the main traction sheave. Secondly, there is no positive coupling between the machine and the lift. This leads to greater safety when slip is permitted. Unlike any drum wound design, there is no overload on the motor in case of lift overshooting at the jerk free, top floor and higher speed travel is possible.
