Nowadays, elevator is one machine which everyone uses for reaching to higher floor of a building. It’s very convenient machine for this purpose. But everything has its advantages and disadvantages. So, the Elevator has also some disadvantages. One of the disadvantages is that sometimes the lift does not function well and one gets stuck in the lift. In this situation, you should follow these steps:
1. Don’t Push the “Earthquake” button unless you’re in an Earthquake
Many elevators are equipped with an “earthquake” button. If you’re in an earthquake, pressing it will cause the elevator to speed you to the first available floor.
2. Press the Call button
All elevators have them, and there’s a reason they are there — for situations just like this. Some elevators have an emergency telephone to be used for the same purpose.
3. Remain Calm and do not panic
Remain calm and remember that this is reality and not a film, and a modern lift is not likely to come crashing down, even if the cables snap.
4. Press the Alarm or Help button
Push the alarm button and wait for someone to respond to you.Some elevators have a two-way speaker system or telephone that will allow for communication between you and the building or rescue personnel.
5. Relax and be patient
If there are other people in the lift with you, try initiating some kind of game to take everyone’s minds off the situation while you wait for help. Encourage them to stay calm and keep things light-hearted, avoiding negativity.
6. Take a deep breath
You might be very scared inside the elevator, so close your eyes for a few minutes and take a deep breath. This will calm you down and help you take right decisions . Tell other people to do the same.
7. Stay where you are
Preserve your energy and sit calmly until help arrives.
8. Forget about jumping up and down
Don’t jump up and down in elevator it is very harmful for us
9. Sit back and relax
No matter how quickly building maintenance is called, you will still have to wait for them to come and fix the problem.
10. Push the “Door open” button
If you are near the landing the door will open. You can slowly and carefully step out of the elevator. Be sure to watch your step as the elevator floor may, or may not, be level with the landing.
